First, there are members of the San Joaquin Valley Air Board who believe their job is to prevent or minimize any cost to polluting businesses in meeting federal mandates to provide clean air for residents to breathe. The ranting and raving of Air Board member Skip Barwick in the following video is a good example of this attitude.
This next video is an attempt to illustrate the pollution from consumption of milk including the huge dependency on fossil fuel intrinsic to the operation of Central Valley milk factories. Along with all the ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, methanol, ethanol, and other VOC’s, there are the emissions from over 10,000 diesel truck trips per day related to this industry.
